About Us

The NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) conducts and supports a wide variety of research on climate change. The department states that work will centre on the priority areas ratified by the Ministerial Advisory Council on Primary Industries Science – climate change modelling, climate change mitigation, and climate change adaptation.

On 21 February 2008 the NSW Minister for Primary Industries, Ian Macdonald, visited the University of New England to launch the Office for Rural Greenhouse Gas Studies. The new phase in the life of the Primary Industries Innovation Centre (PIIC) is a collaborative venture between his Department and the University.

NSW DPI also has a clear role in raising landholders’ awareness on climate change so that they can both sustainably manage natural resources and make informed business decisions.
