Injection & storage
Injecting the CO2Once on site, CO2 may need to have residue removed via suction scrubbers. Then it is compressed to supercritical state in order to be stored. At the time of site characterisation, the injectivity of the reservoir is determined. The CO2 is pumped into the reservoir at a pressure greater that the reservoir fluid pressure. The pressure must be enough to enable the CO2 to enter the formation, but not so great as to fracture the formation.
