On 15 August 2017 councillors from Corangamite Shire Council visited CO2CRC’s Otway Research Facility.

Mayor Jo Beard and councillors Lesley Brown and Bev McArthur were shown around the facility by CO2CRC’s Community Liaison Officer, Shelly Murrell.

The councillors were able to view first-hand the newly completed 1,667 metre deep appraisal well.  The well is the first step in CO2CRC’s five-year $49 million project which aims to significantly reduce long-term monitoring costs through the deployment of subsurface techniques.

“The tour was valuable and fascinating.  I appreciated the expertise and knowledge shown by Shelly and the team at the facility.  I was particularly impressed with the scale of the technology used,” said Mayor Jo Beard.
