Project Overview
In the Dutch sector of the North Sea, approximately 150km north-west of Amsterdam is the K12-B gas field. This gas field has been producing natural gas with relatively high CO2 content, since 1987. Until recently, the CO2 has been separated and released into the air. This project is planning to inject this separated CO2 back into the same reservoir which it, and the natural gas, was initially produced. Along with investigating the feasibility of injecting and storing CO2 in a depleted gas field, it will also carry out the corresponding monitoring and verification. The second stage of the project will look at potential enhanced gas recovery from the same reservoir. The cost of injection is € 5-10 / Tonne CO2.
