Project Overview
This is a coal to liquids (CTL) project, which involves drying and gasification of brown coal, for conversion to clean transport fuels, mainly ultra-clean synthetic diesel. This is followed by the separation of the CO2 produced, and its transport and injection into a suitable offshore storage site. Capture is expected to commence in 2015, using CO2 separation methods. Storage is also expected to commence in 2015, into offshore depleted oilfields, with an estimated storage capacity of 10 million tonnes of CO2 per year.
