CCS world projects: Barendrecht

Project Overview

CO2 from the Shell Gasification Hydrogen Plant at Pernis will be injected into two depleted gas fields under the densely populated area of Barendrecht. The first field will be filled with CO2 from 2011 and continue for 3 years. The second will commence in 2015 and will last approximately 25 years. The overall storage total is estimated to be 10 million tonnes.
