_ The Buttress production wellhead is connected to the Buttress-1 surface plant which comprises three different units: the process skid; a compressor; and an after cooler. _ The process skid at the Butress-1 (production) Site includes a ‘suction scrubber’ to remove free liquids, filters to remove solids and a water bath heater to prevent hydrate formation.
_ The compressor overcomes pipeline pressure losses and provides additional pressure.    
>Pipeline
_ The pipeline was installed between December 2007 and January 2008. It is 2.25km long, stainless steel and 50mm in diameter. _ Pipeline trenching and testing.

>Injection: CRC-1 Site
_ Drilling of the CRC-1 well to inject CO2 into a depleted gas field in the the Waarre C Formation, began on 15 February, 2007, and was completed within budget on 15 March, 2007. _ Drilling the CRC-1 injection well. It is a vertical monobore well and was drilled to a depth of 2249m into the Eumeralla Formation.
_ Five core samples were acquired during the drilling, totalling 42.9 m in length. Other samples collected include fluid, mud gas and cuttings. These samples enabled researchers to confirm that their data and modelling was correct. _ A selection of core samples from the CRC-1 well.

>Monitoring and verification

_ Sampling gas in the headspace of a water well. _ Naylor-1 monitoring well. The Otway Project monitoring and verification program includes downhole geophysical and geochemical measurements at Naylor-1.
_ Geochemical samples and seismic data are processed at the on-site downhole monitoring facility. Fluid samples are then sent to a laboratory for analysis. _ Seismic monitoring consists of generating artificial shock waves which propagate through the rock formations and reflect back to receivers where they register as a pressure pulse. These signals are digitised and processed to produce an acoustic image of the subsurface.
_ Seismic cross section of the area between CRC-1 and Naylor-1 _ Unlikely CO2 seepage in the near surface (soils) will be detected by extracting air from the unsaturated soil zone above the water table.
_ High quality well bore fluid and gas samples are collected at reservoir pressure from multiple levels to detect the CO2 arrival at Naylor-1 and to characterise chemical changes associated with the CO2 arrival. _ The U-tube sampling system was developed by Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the CO2CRC.

_ CO2CRC Chair, Tim Besley, welcomes attendees to the official launch of the CO2CRC Otway Project, Australia's first demonstration of geosequestration. _ Federal Minister for Resources and Energy, Martin Ferguson launched the project.
_ The Victorian Minister for Energy and Resources, Peter Batchelor, joined the Federal Minister for Resources and Energy, Martin Ferguson, at the CO2CRC Otway Project launch. _ CO2CRC Chief Executive, Dr Peter J Cook, congratulates Otway Project Manager Mr Sandeep Sharma and his team on a job well done.

_ A Sydney launch of the CO2CRC Otway Project ran in conjunction with the official opening of the project. CO2CRC Chief Scientist, Professor John Kaldi (centre), was joined by the Chief executive Officer, NSW Minerals Council, Dr Nikki Williams (standing) and the general President of the CFMEU's Mining and Energy Division, Tony Maher (right). _ Professor Kaldi discusses the NSW links to the Otway Project.
