Continuous seismic imaging

Purpose

To develop more accurate and precise ways of obtaining seismic travel times using continuous signals and using these as diagnostic tools in CO2 sequestration.

Summary

The field trials of the continuous source at Otway produced no result due to the failure of equipment. There is a possibility of developing a more powerful continuous source and, given formal approval to proceed, design concepts can be developed leading to a detailed design.

In addition laboratory facilities are being developed to use continuous signals to make improved measurements of the characteristics of porous rocks saturated or partly saturated with condensible fluids.
